Call a target card service

If you have any questions about your Target credit card, call the Target Card Service. You can call at any hour of the day or night, seven days a week. You can also send a request by mail or to a Target store for card support during normal business hours.

Credit rating effect

Canceling your credit card can have a negative effect on your credit score. In some cases, if you are not satisfied with the interest rate, service or other aspect of the credit card, it is better to keep the card and simply not use it rather than close the account.
If the interest or balance accumulated on your credit card is part of the reason you’re unhappy, you might consider transferring the balance to a card with a lower interest rate.

Types of target cards

Target offers both debit cards, which are linked to existing checking accounts and traditional store credit cards. Both offer different discounts and benefits when you shop at Target, including discounts on purchases, free shipping on online orders, and discounts at Starbucks in-store coffee shops. The card is issued by TD Bank.

If your credit or debit card isn’t right for you for any reason, but you’re still a regular Target customer and benefit from discounts, you might consider switching to a different type of card. Contact Target to ask about signing up for another card, as well as the possibility of closing your current account.

Credit card fraud

If you see signs of fraud in your Target credit card account, or your card is lost or stolen, you should call the Target Card Service immediately. You don’t necessarily have to close your account completely, but Target can issue you a new card with a new number and expiration date to prevent any unauthorized use of your account. If you use your card to make purchases online or periodically, you’ll want to make sure to update any location where the card is saved to avoid future unachievable transactions.

If you need to dispute an incorrect transaction on your account, call the Target Card Service. Target recommends also mailing, which will be received within 60 days of sending the first invoice for an incorrect fee, to protect your rights under the Fair Credit Payments Act.
